What happens during a check

The first citation-to-reference check runs in your browser. Your document is not uploaded or permanently stored. If you request source verification, extracted reference text—not the document—is sent to Crossref.
What problems can the checker find?
It can flag citations without matching reference entries, references that may be unused, duplicate entries, numbering gaps, missing years and common structural problems.
Is this a plagiarism checker?
No. It compares citations and references; it does not judge originality, similarity or whether a source supports a claim.
Which file gives the best result?
DOCX normally gives the clearest text structure. Text-based PDFs are supported, but scanned-image PDFs require optical character recognition before checking.
Does it guarantee perfect APA, Harvard or IEEE formatting?
No automated checker can guarantee institutional or publisher acceptance. Use the report as a careful first review and confirm important details against your required guide.
